Spacelords reddit6/1/2023 I've noticed that there are some women officials in the third chapter, and that Uras-Beherit speaks in a woman voice some times in the last chapter. Im a women and I would appreciate that a videogame that I like would improve the way it portraits women (which is not so bad at all in this case, has I've said, but I still feel that is it male-oriented), so I could like it even more. I have no intention at all right now to open a debate about feminism in videogames. If I've read or not any of all those writers doesn't really have any relation with what I was saying in the first place. This is a videogame forum, and Im making an observation about a videogame that I like (as I said, if this wasnt the case, I wouldnt have taken the time to write anything at all). If you cannot get past that aesthetic it just might not be the game for you, which is a shame because the game desperately needs a bigger player base.Īlso sorry that others are mocking you.but yeah there are multiple other female characters announced and I am sure they are going to be in body suits etc (they aren't running around naked no matter how many times you say it)Īlready read plenty of Feminism.I suggest you start reading some Lacan, Heidegger, and Hegel if you haven't and Roald Dahl, maybe some surrealist writers like Andre Breton too.Carl Jung.Gertude Stein. Will put perspective on why you're pandering a video game forum for overt sexualizing of video game characters in the first place.hopefully some understanding of the sign and signifier you're talking about beyond a feminist take on it all Not saying they had to go that route but I just tend to see it that the characters in the game world aren't as hung up on sexual stuff, hell most of them are barely-human-cyborg-demon-people.Īt least they didn't go full on yoga booty like in Overwatch where you can practically give the female characters an OBGYN exam as they move around haha For example, Alicia's normal outfit seems to be a reference to Cowboy Bebop's Faye who dressed that way as a sort of tool for her Femme Fatale character. The game is going for a quasi-Anime aesthetic. Hell he is naked in the prologue cutscenes. The most sexualized character in the game is Lycus who runs around with his 8- pack, and his pants practically falling off like some kind of demonic Abercrombie and Fitch model. There are WAY worse games that objectify women, hell at least Alicia is like the most interesting character in the roster with the most personality, but I guess it doesn't count because she shows some skin? You interpret what you want out of things. BUT you don't fight with him naked in the battlefield.Īlready read plenty of Feminism.I suggest you start reading some Lacan, Heidegger, and Hegel if you haven't and Roald Dahl, maybe some surrealist writers like Andre Breton too.Carl Jung.Gertude Stein. Will put perspective on why you're pandering a video game forum for overt sexualizing of video game characters in the first place.hopefully some understanding of the sign and signifier you're talking about beyond a feminist take on it all. Still, Lycus character is saying "I dont give a damn about anything" so that he is naked in one scene and don't give a damn could be seen as part of building the character. I won't give a detailed explanation as I don't think this is the place to do it (internet is full of that information if you want to check it) Men and women bodies are sexualised differently. Originally posted by Tales From The Dark Side:Not true, as a matter of fact Lycus Dion is naked in the cut scenes, full naked butt lol Women are half of the population (a lot of potential players!) and I have to do an effort in some games to ignore how bad we are portrayed (as I said, Raiders of the Broken Planet is not an extreme example of this). This could be apparently a non so relevant point, but I think if they worked on that it would add an extra value to the game, taking care of things that others don't. If this wasn't the case, I wouldn't have taken the time to write this. I like the game a lot and I think the devs are making a great job, and I'm eager to see how it changes over time. But as they are very open to the players I wanted to contribute with something that usually people don't think about. Is something that people are so used to see that it may seem absurd to them to even consider it. I doubt, if developers will do anything about it, not to mention they are the ones who put them in the first place. Originally posted by DanishNotOkay:I totally agree with you.
